The Face Shop Cherry Cherry Lips Modeling Gel Patch Review

by - 10/13/2016

I'm gonna be honest: I got this because it looks ridiculous. I totally expected this product to be a complete gimmick, and it basically is.

This is the Cherry Cherry Lips Modeling Gel Patch from The Face Shop. The gel is made from cranberry and cherry extracts and is supposed to make your lips soft and hydrated. It contains the following ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Chondrus Crispus (carrageenan), Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Agar, Vaccinum Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glaba (Licorice) Root Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexandiol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chinensis Fruit Extract, Coptis Japonica Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, 1,2-Hexandiol, Caprylyl Glycol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate. Sodium Citrate, Benzophenone-4, Chlorphenesin, Cl 16185, Flavor

Unlike face masks from The Face Shop, which have a two year life span, this lip patch only lasts around three months, it appears.

So this is my lips before the patch. They're not that dry, they're nicely exfoliated, but there's a little bit of staining on there that you can see. Let's put on the patch!

I am fully aware of how ridiculous I look. First of all, nobody's lips are this big. Nobody. The gel patch feels like those window cling decorations, just...slimy. And it's almost impossible to keep it on your face without it sliding down, so maybe lying down would be a better option when using this. The instructions say to keep it on for 10-15 minutes, but other websites say up to 20 minutes. Honestly there's not enough product to keep it on for 20 minutes and I took it off after about 15, but  I probably could have taken it off after 10. The instructions say to pat in the rest of the serum, but there wasn't anything left to pat. I patted anyway.

Do you see a difference? I can't honestly say that I do. Maybe if my lips were dry to begin with, it might have worked well. But we'll never know, because I will most likely never purchase this product again. It made my lips feel weirdly tingly in a strange, numbing and unpleasant way, and the taste was very bitter when I licked my lips. It did smell pleasant, though. So it had that going for it. But other than that, I'll moisturize my lips with other things that taste good, like the EOS Organic Lip Balm - 4 PACK SET, which, by the way, would make a great Christmas gift!
